Canyonlands National Park, Utah, USA

I started my year here, hiking off into the distance in the absolute silence of an incomprehensibly massive open space. A curious crow came to visit me, soaring on updrafts and plopping down about 20 feet away before taking off again into the void. I stayed here for almost an hour.
